If a vet told you that your dog was overweight, would you:

A) Cut down his portion sizes and take him for extra walks.

or

B) Think “Hmm, maybe what he needs is a couple of weeks on the 5:2 diet.”

The answer is obvious. At least I hope it is.

So why don’t we look at our weight loss like that?

Humans love to over-complicate stuff, and weight loss is a perfect example.

I’ve written about weight loss in the past. My article on the simplicity of weight loss is the closest thing to virality I’ve found on Medium.

I think it’s really fucking simple. A lot of my readers seem to agree.

But the weight loss industry doesn’t want you to know this.

It would rather we allow ourselves to get caught up in the fad diets — juicing, intermittent fasting, 5:2, the tapeworm diet — because that’s where the money is made.

It’s bullshit.

I lost thirty pounds last year.

When people would ask me how I did it, I would give a completely honest answer: “Eating less and moving more.”
