I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for sharing your experience. You’ve completely changed my perspective. I’ve always thought (as many do) that ‘I can’t imagine’ is an appropriate thing to say, but as a father of two myself I realise how wrong it is. Because I can imagine the pain of losing either of my children. But the thought of doing so terrifies me, which as you say, is the reason that we use ‘I can’t imagine’ to shield us from that fear. Thanks again for sharing.
