July was a productive month. I published more articles than I have in a very long time.

I was seeing increased engagement and a growing audience. I made enough money to buy not just one, but several cups of coffee. It felt great to be publishing consistently. As we moved into August, I’d hoped to continue that momentum, and possibly even publish more than I did in July.

But fate, that fickle bitch, had other plans.

My laptop decided it had enough, around half of the keys stopped working, and the only way I’ve been able to type a coherent sentence is by unleashing my inner M.C Hammer upon the keyboard.

The combination of a brain bursting with ideas and ten days off from my day job would normally mean an awful lot of writing, but not this time. At first, it was incredibly frustrating, but after a while I realised that my forced writing hiatus couldn’t have come at a better time. Instead of writing, it’s allowed me to:

  • Spend more time with my children, instead of having my face glued to my laptop.
  • Read more. I’ve finally found the time to finish a book I started ages ago.
  • Take up playing chess, and I’m getting pretty…

I write about writing, self-help, personal finance. Pretty much anything that tickles my pickle. Sometimes I even know what I'm talking about.
